Sorry I have been lacking on the blogging lately...no real excuse, just the usual (not enough time in the day, sleep deprived, Cael hasn't let me, etc). So we really haven't been too busy these past couple weeks. Cael continues to surprise us each day and grow! I am still going to the "Baby and Me" class, which is really helpful for me...talking to other moms about their experiences! It is nice to know that they are all in the exact same boat we are! Last week, I made an appointment to see the lactation consultant...not because Cael isn't eating (we know that is true!) but because he has been spitting up a lot lately, fussy after eating when we lay him down, choking while nursing, etc. I was just looking for someone to give me some tips on how we can manage this a little more. Come to find out, Cael does probably have a little reflux issue. But the bigger problem is...he doesn't know when to stop eating! His little tummy gets full much before he stops eating! Come to find out, he can only tolerate 3 oz at this point...he has been eating at least 4 oz! This may be a good explanation for all the spitting up! So, we have switched to feeding him bottles of breastmilk at night to monitor how much he is eating, to make sure he doesn't eat too much...in hopes he will sleep a little better. So a week has past since we have tried this...I think it has helped a little, but he tends to wake up when eating from a bottle, so now we are struggling with an awake Cael at night! (He also doesn't like it when we put him down in the crib even when he is asleep...waking up 10-15 minutes later!) Of course we are feeding him when he is hungry. The story of a newborn I guess!!
Valentine's Day was nice. Our good friend, Amanda, offered to baby-sit while Jonathan and I went out to grab a bite to eat for lunch without Cael. I have to admit, it was weird being out and about without him! We talked about him while we were eating, wondering how he was doing, etc! Come to find out...he slept the entire time!! Of course he woke up when we got home and was ready to go! It was nice to run a couple errands without lugging around the carseat, though!
Today we had baby class again, and Cael is officially a "big boy"! He weighed in at 11 lb 8 oz!!! He had been gaining about a pound a week, but this week has slowed down a bit...I'm sure it has to do with only feeding him 3 oz at a time instead of letting him feast! Look out cousin Flynn...Cael is trying to catch you! Kjetil...I think we have already surpassed you!!
That is the Rixen update for now! I continue to wean off my BP meds, and we don't go back for an appointment for a couple more weeks! I will update when I get a chance...no more excuses!

Love the pictures. Kjetil gets weighed on Wed...he'll be about 7 and a half weeks old (an early 2mo check up). However, I don't know if I accept your busy/tired excuses for not blogging. I'm moving on top of having 3 kids. Just giving you a hard time. Glad things are going well.
