The weather was marginal...it POURED all day on Saturday, keeping us indoors most of the day. We were able to see Molly, Jarod, and Nova for a couple hours, which was fun, but much too short! We had fun while we were at their apartment, went out to eat lunch, and saw the place where they both spend the majority of their time...Des Moines University.
It did eventually stop raining mid-afternoon, just in time for us to head to Ames to tailgate before the big UNI/ISU FB game.
We had planned on going to a tailgate sponsored by the College of Engineering, thinking we were doing ourselves a favor and not having to worry about doing anything on our own. Well, the tent was set up in the grass, and with all the rain that day and the previous days...we were walking through a swamp! Cael was NOT happy that we wouldn't let him down to run in the grass.
We went to the game for the 1st half, and Cael was doing great! He loved pointing to the screen saying "ootball", then pointing to the players saying "ootball". To be honest, his favorite part was watching the Panther mascot (we were sitting near the visitor section). He would point and yell "beear" (Cael's version of bear, but sounds more like beer). When he would get restless, we would have him look for the mascot, and he would yell "right there". The people around us seemed to think he was doing pretty well, and didn't mind. It helped we were CRAMMED in there and he had no other option! We stayed to watch both marching bands, which Cael kept saying "moe" (more).
We had a fantastic weekend...only wish it could have been longer and we could have spent more time with family and friends! Work came much to quickly on Monday morning!
