MERRY (belated) CHRISTMAS!!!

Last week was kind of a whirlwind of a week. The most important part...families were together. We spent a couple days in Chicago celebrating the life Jonathan's Grammie had...she was certainly loved by everyone that knew her!!!

On Christmas Eve, we drove from Chicago to Waukon to spend the Christmas season with more family! We were lucky and it just rained all the way from Waukon to Chicago, until we got about 15 miles from Waukon and it turned into snow, and the roads were covered! Luckily we were almost home! After the long drive we contemplated whether or not we should go to church on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning. I grew up going on Christmas Eve, so I have always been leaning toward that way. With Cael WAY off schedule already, we thought "why not!" So, we went to church on Christmas Eve, and Cael was an absolute ham! My aunt Ann was sitting 2 pews behind us and Cael was waving saying "hi" throughout the entire mass! I would much rather him doing that than whining through church (like he did on Saturday night).

Cael didn't sleep very well on Christmas Eve, and I'm sure it was because he knew Santa was coming!! He woke up at 6am and was ready to play! Santa did find Cael in Waukon with a couple toys, and of course some food and juice...Cael's favorite was the latter of the items!

We went to Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa Ryan's for lunch on Christmas day, and had a great time! It was great to see them, and Great-Grandma prepared a fantastic meal! Cael loved every bit of it...even the apple pie Great-Grandma was giving him on the other side of the ice cream I was giving him! Cael was eating so well, Great-Grandpa Ryan said "I wouldn't feed him anymore if I were you."

Christmas afternoon we spent at the Rixen's celebrating the holiday including Jesus' birthday, presents, eating, etc. Cael and Flynn loved playing with each other's toys as they opened them up! I wasn't sure what was Cael's and what was Flynn's until the end of the night!

With such a busy Christmas day, we were going to have a relaxing Saturday after! We stayed at mom and dad's and didn't go anywhere (except church that evening)! It was a great day! We even made homemade ice cream with help from Grandma and Grandpa Strike in Florida! Cael loved to lick the dasher!

The week/weekend was fantastic, and filled with family! Needless to say...Cael was exhausted!!

Christmas is the season to remember all those who are with you and those who aren't! We know Grammie was there for the birth of Jesus, which is exactly the way she would have wanted it! Sandy couldn't have said it better: "We love you, and God IS with you"!
