4 months old

What a couple weeks it has been! Cael is on the move...he has started rolling over from tummy to back, both directions...he isn't too particular! Of course he doesn't do it on command, but when you least suspect it, he rolls over, then looks extremely confused as to what happened!

This past weekend, we went to Colleen and Eli's for a brunch and to try out their new "Chariot", which is a piece of equipment that has all sorts of adaptations, including turning it into a jogger, a bike attachment, you can even cross country ski and hike with it! Well, we were thoroughly impressed, and thought we could use one, so we bought one. We got the adaptations for the jogger and biker. The beautiful thing about this, is that Cael can already use it this summer. The child has to be 3 months old. We were excited about this, since we didn't think we would be able to bike this year, since Cael is so young yet.

After we were at Colleen and Eli's we thought it would be fun to stop by the YWCA with Cael and let him experience the "leisure pool" with fountains. He wasn't sure exactly what to think, but he didn't cry, so I guess he liked it. Jonathan keeps joking that it was a big bath tub that "mommy made Cael wear pants"...Jonathan thinks Cael will be confused why he needs to wear pants sometimes, and not others (ie bath at home). He seemed to really like the water...I hope to get him in it more frequently.

Cael continues to be really happy and "talkative" during the day, but last week, we are convinced he forgot how to sleep at night! I didn't think too much of it, since he could be going through a growth spurt or a phase of some sort.

Well, yesterday we had Cael's 4 month well-baby appointment. Come to find out, Cael isn't so well! He has a double ear infection, which explains the sleepless nights. So Cael is now on an antibiotic, which of course he absolutely loves to "drink"...it is even bubble gum flavor! Deb from daycare couldn't believe he had an ear infection, since he really hasn't acted any different the past week. This meant that I got to have a quality day with Cael on Monday...luckily I already had it off since I worked the weekend before! So maybe the swim on Sunday wasn't the best idea? Who knew...

Cael continues to grow...he is weighing in these days at 14 lb 14 oz (54%) and 24.5" long (37%). I am happy to see these numbers merging together a little more, compared to his 2 month appt where his weight was in the 75% and height was about the same. Believe it or not, his head circumference is only in the 25%ile! Hard to believe he has pretty much doubled in size since he was born!

We don't really have any big plans for this weekend. I hope you all will enjoy a very nice Mother's Day! If the weather cooperates, we may take the Chariot for a spin with our bikes...we'll see!

double ear infection!! UGH!! I hope he starts feeling better and he makes up for his sleepless nights for you. So exciting for him to be rolling! And he is doing great! He might be the line backer instead of Kjetil.

Poor Cael! Double ear infections are the worst. It sounds like he is handling it fairly well, considering. Hopefully he starts sleeping better for you very soon. He is only 1/2 inch shorter than Karson, but Karson only weighs 11 lbs 7 oz. He is still just a little peanut, but he is definitely growing. I can't wait to get Karson into the swimming pool. I sure hope he likes it as much as Justin and Cael.
