Busy, but fun and productive, Memorial Day weekend

First, thanks to all those who serve for our country...we wouldn't be able to do the things we do without you!! (We love you, Eric and Andy!)

We decided last minute to stay home and work on the yard this Memorial Day weekend! The weather was perfect, and with a 3-day weekend, it was the perfect opportunity! We planted a garden (tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, melon, radishes, green beans, peas, and peppers)...we will see what will actually grow! We certainly have no idea what we are doing, but they are in the ground, and now we water, right? Thanks to Jonathan's co-worker David and his family for starting a few of the plants for us, so I can already see the progress! It is so much easier to plant when you see the instant gratification! (Grammie would be proud with the fortress we built to keep out the pesky squirrels!)

I also bought some flowers/plants to fill in some space in the backyard, as well as split some hostas and filled them in along the house, too! We'll see what happens!! Thank goodness Cael took 3-hour naps both Saturday and Sunday so we were able to get all of this done!

Today, we thought we would "play" a little bit instead of work all day, and with it being our anniversary, we thought it would be fun to go for a bike ride! Cael is an excellent bike rider! He loves the Chariot, and didn't mind wearing his helmet, either! We rode for about 20 miles, however we took about 3 hours to do it! We stopped at Lake Harriett for a picnic lunch, and to let Cael play at the playground! When we got home, he seemed really warm, so why not cool him off in the pool in the backyard!

We topped off the night by walking to the park nearby and getting ice cream from Dairy Queen...Cael even got his own kids cone!

Cael is climbing on everything, and talking a lot! He copies most things you say, but when he tries to say something out of context, it is hard to tell what he is saying! His favorite right now...ELMO! Not really sure where he was introduced to the little red monster, but that is ALL he wants to do is watch "MELMO"!

We are looking forward to the short work week ahead! Sorry for all the updates at once...I will try to do better!!!

Cael versus the concrete...

And the concrete won!

Cael has also taken a liking into feeding himself EVERYTHING, especially yogurt!! The trick...to give him a utensil in both hands...otherwise the other hand goes straight for the container!

Congratulations, Auntie Molly and Uncle Jarod!

The wedding went perfectly! The weather was beautiful, the church was cool, and the kiddos did fantastic! Cael and Flynn were ring bearers, and they both did great! After Cael walked up the aisle with Jonathan and I, Grandma Linda came and took Cael out to take a nap to get ready for the big night ahead! Unfortunately, I don't have too many pictures, but I do have a few to share! It was an excellent day with memories to last forever!

Happy Mother's Day

I hope you all enjoyed your day, particularly all the mother's!

We joined about 50,000 other people to "Race for the Cure" for breast cancer treatment and research. $2.5 million was raised, which is incredible! We met up with Jonathan's co-worker (David King) and his family. Cael did well on the 5K walk, although he rode in the stroller the majority of the time, or he hitched a ride in the King's wagon (which he LOVED)!

After the "race" (which took about 2 hours after diaper changes in the lawn of people, port-a-potty stops for the kiddos, and the slow pace we went while Cael was walking), we went to MOA to eat lunch...and I chose Famous Dave's! Mmmm...BBQ!! Followed up with Cold Stone! It was great! On the way back home, Cael fell asleep in the car, so I put him in the crib when we got home, and I took a 2 hour nap myself!!! I haven't done since Cael was a newborn!

Have a great week!

Did we forget to mention?

Cael update

Last Sunday I noticed Cael had some drainage coming from his right ear, so I took him into the doctor on Monday to find yet another ear infection! We are doing only drops, so hopefully that will take care of it! Cael doesn't seem to be bothered too much anymore...Sunday night was a rough one!

Last week, Cael crib was recalled, so we had to take it down, take it back to Target and get a new one. Jonathan put the new one up on Monday, and Cael got it in and started jumping...I guess he likes it! It was kind of hard getting rid of the old one since Cael had left his "mark"...when he was teething when he only had the bottom two teeth, he would chew on the crib.

Cael's make-shift crib for a few nights.

Cael's new crib!

Jonathan took Cael to his first track meet this past weekend...
And Cael has become quite the helper...he loves the broom inside and outside! We NEED to get him one his size so he can actually help!!

Weekend in the Dells

We met Jordan, Erin, and Flynn at Wisconsin Dells a couple weekends ago for a splish and splashin' good time! Flynn and Cael certainly had fun...and we had a hard time keeping up with the little boys! Here is a bunch of pictures from the weekend!

Who needs pants?

Yeah, Cael wore his ear plugs ALL weekend!!

Flynn got to go down one of the big water slides with his mommy and daddy, with his life jacket on!

The "big boys" even got to enjoy a few water slides themselves!

I was able to take Cael down one of the little slides, and he LOVED it!
Cael wasn't so sure of the wave pool....

Flynn LOVED it!

Cael getting tickled by Auntie Erin...

We had a great weekend...this was Cael within 10 minutes of leaving on Sunday morning after swimming!
